taco bake casserole (Printable Version)

# What You'll Need:

→ Casserole Components

01 - 3/4 cup salsa
02 - 3 cups Fritos corn chips or tortilla chips
03 - 1 packet taco seasoning
04 - 8 ounces cream cheese
05 - 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican-style cheese, split
06 - 1 pound ground beef

→ Fresh Toppings

07 - 1 head iceberg lettuce, shredded up
08 - 2 medium tomatoes, chopped

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Once it's out of the oven, right away toss on the last of the cheese, the lettuce, and the tomato. Enjoy it hot.
02 - Pop the dish into your hot oven and bake about 15 minutes. When the cheese is gooey and bubbly, it’s done.
03 - Scatter 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheese evenly on top of everything else in the dish.
04 - Start with the crushed chips at the bottom of your greased casserole. Then, pile on the beef, and spread the creamy salsa mixture right over that.
05 - Zap the cream cheese in the microwave for about half a minute until soft, not runny. Use a small bowl to stir it up with your salsa until it looks blended.
06 - Grease your 9 x 13 inch pan just a little so things don’t stick.
07 - Mix in the taco seasoning just like it says on the packet and pour in the water it tells you to add.
08 - Toss the beef in your skillet and break it up over medium heat. Brown it until the pink’s completely gone.
09 - Stick your Fritos or tortilla chips in a sealable bag and gently smash them up with a rolling pin.
10 - Chop up the tomatoes, shred the lettuce, and keep them handy to put on top later.
11 - Set your oven at 350°F (177°C) and let it get to temperature.

# Additional Tips:

01 - Want it hotter? Just grab some spicy salsa or add jalapeño slices before you bake.
