walking taco bake (Printable Version)

# What You'll Need:

→ Main Components

01 - 2 cups Mexican blend cheese, shredded
02 - 1 bag (9.25 ounces) Fritos corn chips
03 - 1/2 cup sour cream
04 - 1 can (10 ounces) diced tomatoes with green chiles
05 - 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
06 - 1/2 cup water
07 - 1 package taco seasoning mix
08 - 1 small onion, chopped
09 - 1 pound ground beef

→ Optional Toppings

10 - Jalapeños
11 - Salsa
12 - Guacamole
13 - Sour cream
14 - Sliced green onions

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Spoon it out while it's hot. Add whatever extras you like—green onions, an extra dollop of sour cream, guac, salsa, or toss on some jalapeños.
02 - Take off the foil and let it bake uncovered for another 5 minutes, just until it's all bubbling and melty.
03 - Slide the pan into your oven. Leave it covered and bake for 15 minutes.
04 - Scatter the last of your chips and cheese on top, then cover the pan with a layer of foil nice and snug.
05 - Gently pour your beef mix all across the chips and cheese, spreading it out so it covers the whole dish.
06 - Spread half those Fritos right on the bottom of your prepared pan, then sprinkle with a cup of that shredded cheese.
07 - Now add those black beans, the chiles and tomatoes, and the sour cream. Let that simmer away for about 8 to 10 minutes so everything thickens up a bit.
08 - Mix in the taco seasoning and pour in half a cup of water. Let it come to a bubbly simmer and then turn the heat down low.
09 - Set a big skillet on the stove. Cook the beef over medium heat until it's brown. Toss in the onion and cook till it gets soft.
10 - Turn your oven on to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan with nonstick spray so things don’t stick.

# Additional Tips:

01 - Let it chill out for a couple minutes after baking. It’ll be easier to cut—plus it lets all the flavors come together.
