Chili Butter Bread (Printable Version)

# What You'll Need:

01 - 1 stick room temp softened unsalted butter (1/2 cup)
02 - 2 large garlic heads
03 - 1 teaspoon olive oil
04 - Salt (kosher)
05 - Black pepper (freshly ground)
06 - 1/4 cup basil and parsley, finely chopped
07 - 1/4 cup grated parmesan, plus extra if wanted
08 - 1/2 teaspoon chili paste from Calabria (or sub in some chili flakes)
09 - 1 sourdough or french bread loaf

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Set your oven to 400°F (205°C) and let the butter soften up. Cut the tops off your garlic heads, pour a bit of olive oil on them, then shake on some salt and pepper. Wrap them up good in foil and stick them in the oven for about 40-50 mins till they're soft and brown.
02 - Take out those roasted garlic heads and put them aside to cool off. Turn your oven down to 350°F (175°C).
03 - Put your soft butter in a bowl. Add your chopped herbs, parmesan, that spicy chili paste, plus some salt and pepper. Squeeze the garlic out of its skin into the mix and stir everything up real good.
04 - Cut up the bread into little rounds and lay them out on a baking sheet with parchment on it.
05 - Smear that tasty butter mix all over your bread slices. Throw on more parmesan if you want. Pop it in the 350°F (175°C) oven for about 10-15 mins until the outside gets crispy but the inside stays soft, and all that butter melts in nice.
06 - Pull them out of the oven, maybe sprinkle a bit more parmesan on top if you feel like it, and dig in while they're hot.

# Additional Tips:

01 - Fresh herbs and good parmesan really make this dish pop.
02 - If you can't find that Calabrian chili paste, don't worry - regular chili flakes work fine too.
