Start by tossing the black pepper, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, apple cider vinegar, Dr. Pepper, ketchup, soy sauce, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and some salt in a medium pot.

Put your pot over medium heat and stir now and then until it really bubbles.

Turn the heat down low and cook it slow for 20 to 30 minutes. Give it a stir once in a while so it doesn't stick. Let it get nice and thick.

Give the sauce a try and toss in more salt or pepper if you think it needs it.

Take off the heat and let it hang out until it cools down. Pour the sauce into a sealed container and stash it in the fridge. It'll be good for a week.
